Far too many complaints on this organization to leave them off this site. Owners Joel Castlevetere of Clarence, NY and partner Joseph Mosley are two old debt collectors who have mastered the art of collecting debts. They purchased old, (mostly worthless) accounts fore pennies, then churn out paper work to give them validity that allows them to go after consumers.
The complaints we receive are typical of the ‘Buffalo Style’ debt collectors where threats of legal actions are pending and the debt collector’s sound more like thugs than professionals do. This is typical of the history of Joel and his associates. He was once the owner of Great Lakes in Buffalo, NY, which was then, labeled one of the worst debt collectors in New York, before it was sold off.

Consumers who are contacted or have suits filed against them by Northstar should be aware that in the vast majority of cases, it is far less expensive and highly beneficial not to pay them, but to fight them. A nationwide group of consumer attorneys is available to assist you in taking on Northstar and their claims by attacking the validity of the bogus accounts they file. If you do the math on paying Northstar versus fighting them, you win by a long shot. They do not have the original documents in the majority of claims they file and most consumer lawyers are geared up to make them prove it or walk away with nothing.

The reputation of this organization and the people working there is as bad as what was featured on all the collection agencies profiled on Dateline NBC. Same tactics lies harassment, threats, intimidation, and different players. Measure the cost of a lawsuit, a possible wage garnishment, property lien and bad credit for at least seven years against what it costs to hire an experienced consumer law professional and it is a no brainer.

My recommendation, based on their experience and the mail received is to stay far away from Northstar Location Services. Contact me for assistance and referral to a local consumer law professional who can assist you in dealing with these thugs of the collection dumpster.
 

CAUTION: I recommend you NEVER disclose your bank account or credit card information to a debt collector, as you risk them emptying your account, or maxing out your credit card.
