August 2008     Got a letter from Hanna and Associates. The letter talks about filing a judgment and other remedies. Checked with the Bar to see if they were licensed in my state and they weren't. I filed a complaint for the unlicensed practice of law since they referenced being attorney's and not a collection agencies. I immediately sent a free fax through faxzero.com to dispute the debt as well as mailed a copy to them and ask for validation and told them not to call.

I refuse to talk to them as I have know about their reputation - they are angry and unprofessional. I have heard stories from others that if the collector was a domestic partner she could be arrested for abuse.

August 2008     I just got a call today from Hanna's office. Bud glad you have this website. Rude people for sure. They were calling me about my neighbor who passed away two years ago this week. I had just saw the movie Maxed Out about the credit industry and they talked about calling your neighbors to get them to give you a message. When I told them I did not think they were a law firm that was looking to help the lady who passed away and they they were a collection agency the woman politely hung up after speaking with someone. When I called back another woman refused for me to speak with Hanna or give me their address and they rudely hung up. Called back again and the next party rudely hung up. I will file a complaint with the FTC. This man needs to be shut down and disbarred. I could tell his office was in the south. so thanks for the address.

July 2008     Truly the sleaziest of the sleazy! Twice in the past two years these scum bags have completely cleaned out my checking and savings accounts without my prior knowledge. This was at two different banks, by the way. The second time was today. Ms. Williams screamed at my wife and hung up on her and hung up on her (my wife was simply trying to get details about the recent confiscation.) I have no knowledge of the account they are trying to collect on, as they refuse to send us any substantiating paperwork. I am now afraid to have any bank accounts, for fear they will rob us blind yet again. This is getting old quickly.

July 2008     I have read all the posts and feel better knowing that I am not the only one being harassed by this bottom feeding swap swill. I missed one payment in July 2007    with Bank of America. I think I put up a red flag after I decided to go with a debt resolution program that did not work out for me. On July 20, 2007    I rec'd my first contact that needless to say was not pleasant. I never rec'd the letter that I was suppose to rec'd in 5 business days from them, as a matter of fact I didn't rec'd a letter until Dec of 2007    with a demand for payment. After numerous unanswered calls with threatening messages I stupidly called them and set up a payment arrangement of 100 per month. I requested that a monthly statement be sent to me and since March have rec'd nothing just a letter this month stating that my payment was due and to make sure the funds where available. No amount due no interest rate no late fees nothing!!!!! I have my bank statements that show when my last payment to BOA was and also have paid Hanna about 800.00 to date. I am tired of begging for a statement and I am reporting them to my State AG office and they told me I could report them to the State AG office in GA. I am also sending a letter of validation to them, calling BOA in the AM and reporting them to the Ga BBB. I am not saying I don't owe the debt I do! But am at this point being blindsided as to no knowing what is going on.

June 2008    Hanna & Associates are now working for Beneficial also. I have received several phone calls giving the 866 number stating the the calls were from Beneficial NOT from Hanna's office or that they were from a collector. I had already been making payments direct to Beneficial when I got the letter from Hanna. I responded in less than the 30 days from receipt and I got back a letter accepting my proposal but then making a change to it. I also began receiving solicitation letters from various bankruptcy attorneys in the area. After making one payment directly to Hanna's office per their letter, I was served by my local Sheriff's office. It seems that only 20 days after I received the first letter from Hanna & Associates, they filed against me here in my county. I am now busy doing a response to the service and I am looking into what I can do about Mr Hanna. I have already written to my local Beneficial office to let them know what has happened and to congratulate them for associating themselves with such a sleazy operation.

May 2008    Frederick J. Hanna & Assoc PC has left at least four messages on my phone for my son (who does not even live with me). They have never identified themselves as a collection agency, nor have they stated the purpose of their call. The number they leave is 1-866-306-8250 (the extension number changes every time, of course). If any of you get a call with this call-back number, don't call them back!

May 2008    I have been searching all afternoon for some sort of outlet on this "law firm." Thank you Bud Hibbs!

Background: I am a title insurance underwriter and in the course of my duties I often call collection agents, attorneys, builders, and so forth to obtain up to date payoffs for items that appear as liens on title insurance commitments.

What happened: So being used to collection agents and scum ball attorneys, I wasn't unfamiliar with Hanna when I saw his name as the plaintiff's attorney on the face of a recent customer's judgment. Most agencies and "attorneys" I speak to are all too happy to speak with me and offer up all information necessary to get their money and are usually SUPER friendly and accommodating (Hell, some even outright lie about a person's identity to wrongly demand money from our customer, but that's a different story). So with that in mind - check this out....

Two weeks ago I call the Hanna general number to get a payoff on a borrower's 2006 judgment. As usual with these big collection operations, I have to leave a message. Nothing specific, just that I'm calling for a payoff on this certain customer and to call me back. Nothing for two weeks. Until this afternoon....

The receptionist pages my office and says I have a "Ms. Williams" on the phone. I say fine and pick up. This Ms. Williams immediately takes on a rude tone - not even saying hello and says "so what's going on with that ....... file of yours". I sort of chuckled and upon looking it up, informed her that I still needed a payoff for the judgment and that my waiting on the payoff was holding up the closing (hence, holding them up from getting PAID). She snapped back "WE'VE BEEN FAXING THAT AND FAXING THAT SINCE FEBRUARY!!" (only had the file since 4/28/08). I said that she was going to have to fax it again, that it was holding things up and that I was sorry, maybe it got lost in the shuffle...big office and so forth... So then she states "I CANT FAX IT ANY MORE!"

No really, they're that stupid. No faxed payoff = no Hanna getting paid.

So I chuckled again (I almost thought this was some sort of joke a loan officer or mortgage broker was playing on me) and told her to remember that I was not the debtor and that she didn't need to threaten me or refuse to cooperate to get my attention - that this was a title company and that they would be paid upon the funding of the loan IF we get the payoff...She interrupted halfway through this and started yelling "WHO WAS RUDE TO YOU...WHO WAS RUDE TO YOU...I WASN'T RUDE...YOU WAS RUDE...WHO WAS RUDE TO YOU...I HOPE YOUR DAY GETS BETTER.... click   No, really. She hung up on me. A third party. Not even the debtor...a third party THAT WAS ABOUT TO PAY HER.  What IS WITH THESE PEOPLE

May 2008    Yesterday I received not only a letter from Hanna informing me that they were not only going to start garnishing my paychecks, but had also inflated the original balance of the debt by a whopping $5,000.00. How can this possibly be legal?? I have contacted an attorney who is associated with the NACA, for there is NO WAY I can pay this!

May 2008    I would just like to add to the comments about old Freddy boy!! He is a low life bottom feeder. He put a lien on my house and garnished my wages in 2007    for a 1999 Blazer that I had made 3 years of payments on before my ex-husband was awarded it in our divorce. My ex let the truck get repossessed. Received info from Fred J. Hanna that I owed over $17,000.00 on this vehicle. That's funny, I bought it used for less than that. Anyway, he pulled all his typical lies and said I never contacted him about the letters they sent, when in fact I had and was told all the wrong information to provide them. So, I had to file bankruptcy since the garnishment that was started by him in the county where I work only left me enough money to pay my mortgage every month. Well, two days ago I received a court letter from him stating the he applied for continuing garnishment in the county where his office is located, going through my corporate office that is located in that same county. So I guess Freddy is above the law--didn't really think it was legal to garnish wages on something that was filed in bankruptcy last year. Guess I'll be seeing him in court. I just want to let every one know that if you are dealing with him--DON'T!! Get yourself a lawyer before even trying to resolve anything with them...it will save you a lot of heartache and frustration.

April 2008    WOW! I have never dealt with anyone so rude. By the way thanks for all your comments and reviews as it has helped me in dealing with them and not feeling alone. I have been dealing with George Hawkes, he is a typical scumbag! He calls and pretends to be really nice while trying to swindle money out of me. I had a credit card debt with Bank of America the first one I've ever had. He calls my cell phone a million times, even after I told him I'm at work and can't talk right now. He refuses to send me any kind of documentation in the mail about my debt. He just calls and demands that I send him money right away or he's going to take me to court. At this point I'm ready to just go to court and hope the judge will see what a dirt bag this place is. Yesterday he called me twice at work, I called him back and explained I wanted something in writing, he refused, and then said that my character was in question and basically attacked me, he then said he was writing me off as refusing to pay and I was going to be taken to court and hung up on me! what a jerk! seriously i can't believe these people are still in business. I filed a few complaints, one with the Federal Trade Commission. I also called back and asked to speak to his manager who was conveniently in a meeting! I told the woman that I was requesting that George Hawkes never call me again, I told her I would walk down to the police department and file a harassment charge if he ever contacted me again. I am SOOOOOOOOO done dealing with these people. They said I needed to post date a check for the end of the month, I laughed! I am going to find a good lawyer and just see them in court. Good luck to anyone else dealing with these people. File as many complaints as you can and hopefully one day they will be OUT OF BUSINESS

2007       I started this issue with Capital one auto. In 2004 I had lost my job and had just gone back to work. I was two months behind on my payment but trying to keep it up I got a call from the collection department at cap one from a person named suzette she told me she could not accept my payment unless it was the full amount. I owed almost 1000 dollars. There was no way I could pay this. But offered her 400 dollars she refused told me to get another job yelled at me told me I was a dead beat and called me a liar. I hung up on her and was very upset. She continued to call me seven to eight times a day I would not answer. She called my home June 12th of 2004 and spoke to my husband she told him I was a liar and needed to pay full amount or they would repo vehicle she scream at him told him she was going to take our property also he hung up on her after telling her to come get the van. We ignored calls for a while scared and irritated she kept calling sometimes as late as ten at least ten times a night. We have gotten real good at ignoring the phone. They did come and get the van. Calls stopped Then we started getting urgent calls from synergistic The lady on the phone her name was Donna she said we owed her eleven thousand for the van and she was prepared to make an offer if we paid five thousand dollars it would clear my account. I wanted to pay because I felt like it was our responsibility so I told her I could give 1000 dollars and would have to get the rest to her when I could. She took my money and everything was ok at first then she began calling demanding the rest I did not have it I told her I could make small payments she refused she said she was coming after my property and even spoke to my then five year old told her mommy was bad. Calls continued until now I am now getting calls from 770-988-9055 I looked this up and found out it is Frederick J. Hanna & associates

2007       Well, in the past month, I have received a few calls from our "friends" at Hanna & Associates regarding a debt of mine. I am working with a debt settlement company in hopes of agreeing to settle my account, which is with Bank of America. I have a debt of approximately $4k with BO and hope to get it settled for somewhere in the neighborhood of $2k and paid off by year's end. I have been informed by my settlement company to not speak with these dirt bags and to let them be the point of contact, as they have POA to represent me. How long have people generally been able to put off these maggots before getting a summons, legitimate or not from Hanna?

2007      I was contacted  one year ago by Hannah and served by a uniformed officer with a court summons at my job! Needless to say, I was unable to make suitable arrangements with the office, and I was then served with garnishment papers by my Human Resources officer. Over the last four months $272.00 each pay period has been deducted from my check leaving me with very little to survive on. I'm down to only 1 1/2 payments and can't wait for it to be over. This was a Discover credit card from 1994 and I was told by a local attorney that there wasn't much they could or would do besides threaten me because legally it should have been charged off by 2006. The balance at that time was &800, but according to Hanna and the guys, the card is now worth $2200. Well, I won't ignore it if I ever receive notices like the ones sent by Hanna and his team again! The amount that they sent to Human Resources did not indicate that I did make a payment to them before the attorney advised me to stop. It seems as though they've gotten away with stripping more money than they should have.

2007    Beware of these guys. I got a call from these guys yesterday and today they sent me a letter in regards to a debt with Washington Mutual and that they represent LVNV Funding in the matter. A couple of weeks ago I received a debt collection notice about the same account from Resurgent Capital Services which apparently is also a company owned by LVNV (AKA Sherman Acquisition). I fully intend on sending Resurgent a debt validation letter but now it seems they are also using Fredrick J. Hanna as a way to be even more persistent in collecting a debt.

After reading about the Fred Hanna on the Bud Hibbs site and also others as well, these guys seem nothing more than scumbag debt collectors who apparently do whatever they can to collect even if it's through fraudulent means. I also looked them up online on the State Bar website which lists the lawyers legally licensed to practice law here and they aren't even listed. If you get a letter from Fred Hanna and his dirty band definitely send them a debt validation letter.

To send a letter regarding the same account from two different sources under LVNV Funding is pretty strange but also shows how desperate they are to collect a debt whether the person owes it or not. Do not give these guys any personal info over the phone or even speak to them. Just do everything through regular mail and also document the calls. The first call I got from Frederick J. Hannah's group was very strange.

I let my voicemail pick up the call and some guy named John Daily left a message saying it's an important business matter to discuss, and in the next moment it sounded like he held a tape recorder up to the receiver with an automated voice saying my name and then proceeded to get back on the phone to tell me I needed to call him and that he'd be in his office until 9pm. What lawyer works that late to collect a debt? This guy didn't sound nice and was just another scumbag debt collector. In the laws in my state they are also supposed to disclose that the call is from a debt collector which they didn't do. I guess these guys at Fred Hanna have no problem with breaking the law. I would definitely check to see if these guys are licensed to practice law in your state. I'd also check with the Better Business Bureau and you can see they have an unsatisfactory record.

Thanks to Bud Hibbs for re-affirming the fact that these guys are dirt bags who like many other debt collectors are trying to prey on debtors in the hopes they'll be scared enough to cave into these thugs. Don't be scared and make sure you have all the documentation of calls, letters, etc. These guys apparently break the FDCPA and even state laws to try and get their way. Fight back.

2007    My husband had his wages garnished by Fred Hanna & assoc. for an NCO Portfolio account and Hanna's office is claiming we owe more than we do but we are stuck with paying it. I have tried to get a hold of an attorney but there isn't one in our area that handles this kind of thing and I don't have a good enough car to drive to the nearest one. My husbands job has him on the road so much that he can't appear in court & I was told we can't do a power of attorney so I can handle it for him so like I said we are screwed. This is how these so called attorneys & debt collectors stay in business and get the money they want. So many people now days are so involved in their lives that they aren't able to take the time to fight and or they just figure it's not worth it because they won't win anyway or they are just plain scared because they grew up in a society where a lawyer and court stuff was something serious. Now I'm not whining because of my situation I'm just making an observation as to why this happens so much more than it used to. (By the way this is not for an account we made it's an identity theft account that was created when my husband had his wallet stolen by a co-worker while they were in France. He didn't file a police report because he wasn't able to and this was before the identity theft thing was very well know.) Fred Hanna's office took payments for a while & one of their associates called me & told me they would no longer accept the payments & I needed to go to one of their 'people they work with' & try to re-finance our home. We did not do this because we felt it was a scam. So payments weren't made since they weren't going to be accepted. This got the account behind & that's when they decided to do the garnishment. It's all VERY frustrating and upsetting. Thanks for listening.

2007    I was contacted by the Hanna office on 6/11/07, today is 6/19/07 and I have already had five phone calls from them. First of all I told them that I have never received any letter in the mail from their firm. Asking this question really sent them over the edge. They at first said no we have not sent a letter yet, that they had just received my account in their office. Then before this first phone call was over they said that they had sent me an official letter and that I was just trying to drag this whole matter out. Hanna's Midwest office kept asking for my banking information, which I refused to give them. They have consistently called me asking for settlement, though from the start I told them that I was disputing the validity of their claim which they said was from Sears Co. Hanna's office told me that Sears was no longer involved and I had to deal with them. I still refused and now they tell me that they will serve me with a summons unless I settle with them. I asked for something in writing and they refused. My husband and I talked it over and he says let them serve the summons, they have not done what they were suppose to do legally.

June 11, 2007    Well I fired off a letter to Freddie and his cronies and told them that my friend Bud Hibbs didn't speak to highly of them and the Georgia BBB didn't report good things about them also.I have not received any more phone calls from them! I also told them I never heard of a "real" lawyer with office hours after 5 P.M. either! I also told them that I don't owe them a dime! Thanks so much Bud for all you do for us that have to deal with these leeches everyday!!! Thanks again Bud have a great day!!!!

Thank you Mr. Hibbs for this very informative and helpful website. A couple of years ago I fell into some difficult times and had to go to work for Fred Hanna and Associates. During the training I was appalled at some of the tactics being taught to not only seasoned collection veterans but to young collectors who were coming into the industry for the very first time. As best I could I cornered some of the younger people to let them know that our industry was not all about what was being taught there. I seemed to be the only veteran who really knew how the industry is supposed to be ran. Using fear and intimidation and down right illegal tactics is not a collection strategy but a strategy that will eventually get both you and your employer in trouble. After completing the training phase I went from being appalled to just plain galled at the conditions the people there were working under. The breakroom looked worse than some restroom I have seen on the road when traveling. The entire place looked like a warehouse gone terribly bad. Hanna doesn't even think enough of his employees to provide them with a decent place to work and he can, others do. That was the galling part to think that so many people work for this man and speak very highly of him only to be rewarded with a pig's sty to work in. Keep after him, maybe that is why he is such a big fish he keeps all the money to himself.

2007     I wish I would have heard about Fred Hannah and his pathetic collection practices when I was first contacted by this "law firm". I'm completely disgusted by their behavior, and I can't believe those who work for this man can sleep at night. I love talking to these losers on the phone, however. Recently I have gotten the opportunity to talk to a low life moron by the name of Sheeva. This woman contacted me yesterday at my place of work to inform me if I did not set up a payment plan with her before Tuesday, she would proceed to garnish my wages. I told her that I've been waiting on a statement to arrive from Fred Hannah's office for 3 months. I was told by a man named Ed that I wasn't dealing with an accounting firm who sends statements, I was dealing with a law firm. I was shocked, appalled and my first thought was to call Bank of America, who Fred Hannah claimed to be representing. Sheeba told me that I should have contacted Bank of America for this statement and I explained to her that I did and they told me that my debt had been charged off. She also told me that she could fax a statement to my office and then I could review it, call her back and set up a payment plan with her. I said if she wanted to send me a statement then she could mail it to me. She said that she would be overnighting one to me.

Well, I called Bank of America today, and they informed me that my debt with them was not being handled by Fred Hannah on their behalf and that they did not sell my debt to Fred Hannah. I decided to give Sheeva a call. I asked her to reconfirm what she stated yesterday about Bank of America being a client of Fred Hannah’s and that they are only trying to collect on the behalf of BOA. She asked me to hold and came back to the phone 3 minutes later to tell me that it was indeed correct. I told her that seemed quite funny to me, I just talked to BOA and they have told me otherwise. She then asks me if I talked to a manager at BOA and I told her that in fact, I did. I also asked her if she would be willing to do a 3 way conference call with me and BOA and she said yes but only if she could get her manager in on this call as well. I guess she doesn’t have a scripted answer to that one. I then questioned her on the supposed attempt to garnish my wages. I asked her what steps would be taken and how she was going to get this done? She told me that she had no idea because she was not in the department responsible for that. I laughed at that one because yesterday when she called me, she certainly said she was. Then she began to tell me that she was only signing off on paperwork to be sent to that department. I asked her if she knew that what her company is doing is illegal and she didn’t answer. I told her to expect a call from my attorney, which I have retained. She is so used to lying she thought that it was just a bullsh*t threat on my part. She said, good, just give me his name and contact info and I will send all the info to your lawyer. I’m sure she was quite surprised when I gave her his name and contact info.  I asked her if she sent my statement in the mail yet and she told me that her company doesn’t do that.

May 5, 2007    Today was a good day .. I was only screamed @ by 2 debtors all day long the rest were available to speak with me directly some of you even kept your call back promises! I have to say i was impressed, so as it written in the good book forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors -i forgave a debtor today who had been dealing with Harold sheply and associates chad Moore attorney @ law( whatever) I heavily advised him not to go with this company and companies like them who take your money every month with the promise of paying off your creditors (over 2-3 years) i warned the consumer this would not be wise because our office has a set time frame and a set criteria stipulated by our client as to when resolve is to be obtained before legal recommendations are required. Well!! He was contacted today by our local co counsel an attorney in your state that will sue you on our behalf) he immediately called the office and asked what was happening! I reminded him of my advise given to him last month april 2007    and how this so called firm will not represent him in court if our client decides to take it there with him, he asked what he could do to resolve the defaulted item in office (the unpaid bad debt) naturally the tables were turned and the balance should've been called due since he knew we were ready to sue him right?...... Wrong.... Forgive us our debts as we "forgive our debtors"...the balance was $5800.00 his original charge off amount was $4716.00 before interest or penalties applied, he knew he was screwed or so he thought... I granted him a settlement of $3000.00 to close the case and fo'git about it. you see people when your intent is to resolve your debt, own up to your obligations, and just plain face what you fear, you'll be surprised what lessons or blessins' lie deep in the water......sharkfin

2007      I am attaching a letter that I just wrote today to Frederick J. Hanna. I did not realize how many people are harassed, I am one of the lucky ones as I have a degree in pre-law, and these people do not scare me. I hope this helps someone.  (We publish the letter with financial details redacted - this is not to be considered legal advice from this consumer or this website...)

Dear Mr. Peskin:

On April 11, 2006, I entered into a payment plan with Portfolio Recovery (your office). All payments under this plan have been paid in a timely manner on or before the 25th of each month. Additionally, I made an extra payment of $XXXXX under this agreement, while also paying the $XXXX payment each month as stipulated and agreed upon through XXXXXXXXXXXX (a debt consolidation program) and your office.

As of April 1st, 2007   , the balance owing on this account is $XXXXXX not $XXXXXX as stated in your paperwork. In April of 2006, the balance owing on this account was over $XXXXXX0, a year has gone by since this agreement and Ihave paid your offices $XXXXXXX towards the balance.

In October of 2006, I received a phone call from your office wanting me to make another additional payment to try and bring the balance down even lower. I was not able to do this, nor did our agreement stipulate anymore-large payments being made. On December 5th, 2006, I was served with the Summons and Suit on Account by your office. I can understand the collection of a debt, however, I do not understand the harassment of such when I am making the payments that were agreed upon, and have not been late or missed a monthly payment since our agreement went into effect.

Therefore, I am not responsible for your unnecessary filing fees of frivolous court paperwork, attorney fees, or post-judgment interest at a legal rate. A Consent Judgment is nothing more than a contract between the parties entered upon the record with the approval and sanction of the court of jurisdiction. We already have a contract that was entered upon on April 11, 2006, this contract has been fulfilled since the inception, and I continue to make automatic payments out of my checking account the 1st of every month, which are then forwarded to your office by (debt solutions firm)

Additionally, I do not concur with your Consent Judgment. The need to file such paperwork would only come about if I was not meeting the obligations that were originally set forth. Since you continue to harass me over a debt that is being paid I am forwarding a copy of this letter, your consent judgment, and the Suit of Summons to the Federal Trade Commission, and the Georgia Bar Association Ethics Committee.

2007      Wow, I am shocked at all of the comments regarding this law firm. I am also very scared at the moment. Now I really don't know what to do. I did have a bad debt with Capital One a few years ago. In 2006, I was served court papers and had a date on when to appear and everything. I called them cause I was scared and definitely didn't want to go to court on something that I can make arrangements with and settle.  I called and made payment arrangements . The debt was roughly $2600 or so....but they added $1000 of fees on top  and said that i can pay them $250 a month until it was cleared up. Well, I lost my job and just moved, so they slipped through the cracks. I was just thinking that I never received a statement on the payments that I had sent to them. So, tomorrow I will request a statement from them and see what they say. I don't know what to do. I am panicking because I'm afraid they will say that they have nothing on file....and etc. I will go ballistic on them. I may even contact an attorney if they give me a hard time. What are my rights? Does anyone know? I cant believe I may be another victim...or sucker.

2007      Horrible, horrible experience. Luckily after I was hung up on twice today by this place I went to the Georgia State Board of Law. There I was able to review their ethics section and emailed my complaint to the State Board outlining exactly the ethics rules this, umm, firm violated.

2007      Two months after a cease order was presented to Frederick Hanna, one of his "representatives" called my ex-wife and spoke with my 16 year old, explaining to her he was trying to collect a debt from me. From what I have learned from your web site, this is illegal, but it has not seemed to have stopped him from doing so.

You might wish to file complaints at the FTC and the Georgia State Bar.

2007      I received a letter from Frederick Hanna and associates saying they are representing LVNV regarding a debt that I do not owe. LVNV appeared on my credit report late last year and was deleted from my credit report December 26, 2006. Since that time two other credit agencies have contacted me regarding my LVNV account (that has been removed from my credit reports because it is not my debt). The first was World Zen. They wrote me a letter and called me at work. I responded by telling them not to contact me and sending them a letter informing them this account was not mine and not to contact me. The second agency was the Northland Group (this group also appeared on my credit in feb. 2007    as an inquiry that I am fighting) I told them the same thing and sent them the same type of letter. Now I am getting a letter from Hanna. Based on what I have read about him I am not looking forward to dealing with him. I have printed a letter that I will mail first thing Monday morning demanding validation not verification regarding this issue. I know that he can't because like I said the account is not mine. Any advice from anyone will be greatly appreciated!

2007      I Have never in my life dealt with such ignorant people. I have been sick for seven months and had to quit my job because of it. I got behind in bills that I religiously paid every month on time. I started receiving calls from them. They started calling me in December. I spoke to them on several occasions to set up payment arrangements. Of course none of this was good for them. I told them it was the only way I could pay. They told me to file bankruptcy or ask someone for the money. I told them i would and could not. They got very hostile. After that they started calling ten times a day. Then they got my families phone numbers and started calling them When they asked them to stop they said we can call and do what we want. I just got off the phone with them today trying to come to an agreement. The lady would not even let me speak. She called me lots of names and degraded my family. Of course the conversation got heated and she hung up

2007      I had never heard of this guy before today, but I recently got word that Capital One was filing suit against me, so I pulled my credit report online to find out when the last date of activity was. Now I see that this guy pulled my credit report last September. Can they do that? I did a search online to find out who this guy was and found this site. I'm so glad I did! Now, instead of being worried, I'm ready to fight this idiot tooth and nail!  You'll find there's a big difference in 'what they can do' and what they actually do.

2007      I am so glad to find your website regarding issues folks have had with Hanna & Assoc. I can tell by previous posts you have them on the run, in the corner and seriously defensive. I have been a good consumer all my life, with a near perfect credit score. When I was divorced for faults admittedly not my own, my ex-wife still took most of what I had built and left me to start a new life, much of it heavily reliant on credit cards. When the federal laws changed last year and minimum payments were increased, I no longer could afford to live, and my account was sent to FJHA to collect the debt. I recently went to purchase a new home. I have two other credit card accounts that are past due, but an agreement has been reached to settle pay off the cards. However, my BOA account, in the hands of FJHA, has been aggressively pursued with letters making threatening statements. I am okay with that. I can work with most people. I agreed, however, to pay them a monthly minimum to keep them at bay. What they have been doing is collecting one amount from me, and reporting to the credit agencies that I have been paying a different amount. Because of this, over about a lousy $60, my credit score has shot from the 700's into the low 500's.

2007      As a former collector who worked there, I cannot think of enough bad words to describe his horrible excuse for a human being. Fred J. Hanna and wife Lynn L. Hanna live in luxury in Marietta, GA in a four million dollar home paid for by debtors they steal money from. Hanna likes to hide from everyone, thinks he is a big shot that can get away with anything he wants. At age 58, he can retire in luxury and never worry about all the people he screwed out of money, or the lives he and his pond scum debt collection operations have ruined. He is an egotistical moron who loves to screw anyone out of money, I mean he really gets off on it. The puppet attorneys working there jump when he barks to keep the money rolling in. You would be astonished at the methods they use to take money from people, he has no conscience, no morals, only a deep fixation for beating anyone out of money. If Hanna were a politician he would be in jail for all the crooked things he has done, maybe someday he will get what he has coming. The time spent there was horrible, I regret ever have gone to work there. Warn your readers to fight him tooth and nail, he should pay for all the people he has screwed.

2007      I have received 2 calls from David Williams who claims he works for Frederick J Hanna and Associates. The first time I told him NOT to call my place of work ever again, that he could reach me at my home number, which he asked for. He also asked how I was going to take care of the credit card debt I have with Bank of America, in which I told him I do not have any money but I was working with a Settlement Agency. He was very rude, so I referred him to the Settlement company and was going to give him the number. He wouldn't take that number, just told me I was going to be sued and that they were going to attach my wages. The second time I was called, I didn't identify myself when I answered the phone and he asked for fax number of the HR department. I gave him the fax number, and was faxed a verification of employment. He did not identify himself, nor did he say what he needed the fax number for. I then called him back and again told him that he had a cease and desist letter on file and to never call me at work. At that time I was told I would be served at my work place and he was doing what I had told him. I never told him to serve me at work, I said that he could contact me at my home number if needed. This company is very sneaky with their tactics, and I need to know how to handle this, as I have several credit cards I am unable to pay due to several different problems. The statute of limitations is 6 years

2007

July 2006 I was served with a lawsuit from Hanna and Associates. I was very surprised because I never had a credit card with Providian. What is funny about this lawsuit is that I never received anything saying I owed a debt until I was served. The paperwork that I was served with was a copy of the credit card agreement from Providian. It didn't mean a hill of beans to me.  There was nothing in the paperwork with my signatures. I tried calling these idiots and was told that Dennis Henry will not talk to me. The entire point of filing this lawsuit was to get a judgment against me. They would have gotten a judgment if I didn't answer their summons. I filed a motion to dismiss the case. The judge came back and said I could sue them based on their violations of the FCRA. On January 17th, 2007    I filed a motion to get a trial date. This case has been pending for 9 months. I'm tired of waiting. On January 10th, I called the Hanna Law Office and spoke with the Paralegal. She stated they are waiting on the credit card company to provide them with my signatures. What a joke!!! They've had this case for 2.5 years. They're just know getting around to finding my signature. I'm not a lawyer but I could play one on TV. The reason I don't have a court date is because they don't have a case.

2007      From a Collector

I have to throw my two cents in here. I worked for Fred Hanna and Associates not too long ago. I have seen the underhanded tactics they use and the lies they tell and you have a good reason for feeling the way you do toward them. Once I witnessed what was going on I got out of there. I witnessed one collector calling a bank to verify a account and when they would not give it to her she called back stating the account holder was deceased and was settling her will and need the last known address. I could not believe what I was hearing. That made me very nervous because I am very familiar with the FDCPA. I decided to get out while I could before it all came tumbling down. This is just one of the many lies that are told there just to get the info they need. As for the SOL, here is something you need to know. If the credit card company or whoever have a signed contract with you then the SOL is 7 years from the last date of activity on the account which usually means the last payment made. If there is nothing with your signature on it then they have 3 years from the last payment or charge. Whichever was last so be careful. Hope this helps anyone.
